Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a Sourcing Manager to oversee direct-category sourcing across the Netherlands and Belgium, partnering with the Head of Purchasing MIDI to implement global and regional strategies locally. You will lead supplier relationships, drive cost savings, and ensure supply continuity while maintaining compliance.

The role requires 3–5 years in procurement, strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills, and fluency in English (Dutch a plus).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline
  • Fluency in English. Dutch is a plus
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing or category management
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and contract negotiations
  • Proven track record in driving sourcing initiatives, cost savings, and supplier optimization
  • Practical experience conducting RFIs, RFQs or RFPs, evaluating commercial proposals, selecting suppliers and supporting contract development and implementation
  • Working knowledge of E-Procurement and Ariba
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred: logistics services, warehousing, engineering and technical services, construction, capital or operational equipment, laboratory supplies or laboratory equipment
  • Familiarity with GMP requirements and their impact on sourcing, supplier management, and compliance activities
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills. Effective stakeholder management and business partnering skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

  • Implement global and regional category strategies at local level in accordance with the Target Operating Model, and execute end-to-end sourcing activities for the assigned categories
  • Act as the principal Sourcing Business Partner for designated stakeholders in Lelystad and Evergem, building a strong understanding of site strategies, operational priorities, demand plans and sourcing requirements
  • Partner with business stakeholders to collect and challenge demand, understand forecasts and project pipelines, establish joint priorities, and promote the early involvement of Sourcing
  • Identify and execute opportunities for spend consolidation, supplier optimization, demand management, standardization, automation and total-cost improvement
  • Maximize the appropriate use of preferred suppliers, Master Services Agreements, Frame Services Agreements, catalogs and other approved buying channels
  • Execute supplier lifecycle and performance-management activities, including supplier segmentation, performance monitoring, business reviews, corrective actions and development of relevant suppliers
  • Identify, evaluate, report and mitigate commercial, operational, quality and supply risks associated with assigned categories and suppliers, maintaining appropriate risk-mitigation actions
  • Document sourcing decisions, negotiated value and savings accurately, and monitor relevant sourcing, supplier and buying-channel performance indicators
  • Develop and maintain productive supplier relationships focused on performance, compliance, and innovation
  • Lead contract negotiations and support issue resolution to ensure business continuity

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Sourcing Manager to oversee sourcing activities across assigned direct categories and support the execution of global sourcing strategies at regional or local level.

The role combines responsibility for designated sourcing categories across the Netherlands and Belgium with a strong site-business-partnering focus for our operations in Lelystad, the Netherlands, and Evergem, Belgium.

You will implement global and regional category strategies locally, translate business requirements into sourcing initiatives, and serve as the primary Sourcing Business Partner for assigned stakeholders at both sites.

In this role, you will partner closely with business stakeholders, category managers, and suppliers to drive value creation, optimize spend, reduce costs, and ensure supply continuity while maintaining compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

This position is based in Amsterdam and reports directly to the Head of Purchasing MIDI.

HOW YOU’LL FIT IN
