Job summary

Tilburg University invites applications for a Student Assistant – Sign Language Video Processing in the Computational Cognitive Science department. The role is 0.2 fte (8 hours per week) with a part-time contract starting 1 October 2026, in a hybrid work setting.

The project processes sign language video data from the XSL Hotel Review Corpus, with goals like segmentation, sign spotting and annotation using tools such as MediaPipe and Python.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a Tilburg University student with ≥60 ECTS or ≥20 master credits.
• Proficient in English at CEFR level C2/C1/B1.
• Background in data science, computer science, or computational linguistics.
• Experience with spatial-temporal data.

Responsibilities

• Process videos and analyze spatial-temporal data using suitable tools.
• Assist in annotating the corpus and exploring sign language data features.
• Collaborate with researchers in a hybrid work setting.
