Job summary

Detavast is seeking a Senior System Engineer for a Netherlands-based hybrid role. You will own system architecture and guide multidisciplinary teams across the full product lifecycle from concept to qualification.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in System Engineering within semiconductor/precision tech sectors, deep knowledge of verification and risk management, and fluent English communication skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of System Engineering experience in a complex high-tech environment.
• Experience in semiconductor equipment, metrology or related advanced tech sectors.
• Strong grasp of multidisciplinary systems involving mechanics, electronics, software and controls.
• Fluent spoken and written English.

About the job

We are looking for a Senior System Engineer to work for an innovative high-tech company developing advanced semiconductor equipment. In the role you will take ownership of complex multidisciplinary systems and work across the full product lifecycle, from concept development through to system integration, validation and customer qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own and maintain the system architecture throughout the product lifecycle
• Define and manage system-level requirements, interfaces and performance budgets across multiple engineering disciplines
• Lead technical trade-off studies, feasibility assessments and architecture decisions
• Identify technical risks and drive mitigation plans with multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Provide technical leadership and system-level guidance to development teams
• Collaborate with Product Management on customer needs, market requirements and future product capabilities
• Define verification, validation and qualification strategies alongside engineering and manufacturing teams
• Support system integration, performance testing and root-cause analysis activities
• Drive technical decisions balancing performance, cost, manufacturability and reliability
• Contribute to next-generation product development through innovation and systems thinking

What you need:

• Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Control Engineering or a related technical discipline
• 5+ years of experience in a System Engineering position within a complex high-tech environment
• Experience within semiconductor equipment, metrology, precision engineering or other advanced technology sectors
• Strong understanding of multidisciplinary systems involving mechanics, electronics, software, physics and controls
• Knowledge of system verification, validation and qualification methodologies
• Experience conducting technical trade-off studies, feasibility analysis and risk assessments
• Ability to lead cross-functional technical discussions without direct management responsibility
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal
