Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Senior Specialist Solutions Engineer to guide customers in building big data solutions on Databricks, collaborating with Field Engineering pre-sales teams, and requiring hands-on production cloud infrastructure experience.

This role focuses on cloud security, governance, and adoption through workshops and talks. Based in Amsterdam with a hybrid schedule and up to 30% travel, it begins as a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Qualifications

• Pre-sales or post-sales experience with external customers across industries.
• 4+ years designing cloud infrastructure and security, including AWS/Azure/GCP and best practices.
• Experience with cloud networks (VPC/VNet), IAM, and automation tooling (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation).
• Experience building a security lakehouse/data platform on Databricks for SIEM and threat detection.
• Familiarity with prompt engineering, vibe coding, or agentic tools.
• Databricks Certification(s) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to guide customers to successful implementations on big data projects spanning architecture, security design, and deployment best practices.
• Assist Solution Architects with advanced aspects of the technical sale, including PoC content, workload sizing, and custom architectures.
• Architect production-level cloud-native governed workloads and provide technical expertise in cloud infrastructure and security relating to the Databricks Lakehouse Platform.
• Enable adoption by leading workshops, hackathons, and conference presentations, and contribute to the Databricks community.

(FEQ427R351) Senior Specialist Solutions Engineer - Platform Security and Cloud Infrastructure

As a Senior Specialist Solutions Engineer, you will guide customers in building big data solutions on Databricks that span a large variety of use cases. This is a customer-facing role that works with and supports the Field Engineering pre-sales teams and requires hands-on production experience with cloud infrastructure and big data technologies. Specialist Solutions Engineers help customers through the design and successful implementation of essential workloads while aligning their technical roadmap to expand the use of the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform. As a deep go-to-expert reporting to the Specialist Field Engineering Manager, you will continue to strengthen your technical skills through mentorship, learning, and internal training programs to continuously consolidate the skills in your area of speciality.

• Technical thought leader:
  • Provide technical leadership to guide strategic customers to successful implementations on big data projects, ranging from architectural and security design to development and deployment best practices, including automation
  • Assist Solution Architects with more advanced aspects of the technical sale, including custom proof of concept content, workload sizing, and custom architectures

Cloud Infra & Security Expertise

• Architect production-level cloud native governed workloads
• Provide technical expertise in cloud infrastructure and security relating to our Databricks Lakehouse Platform
• Community & Adoption: Enable adoption by leading workshops, hackathons, and conference presentations, while actively contributing to the broader Databricks community.

What we look for:

• Pre-sales or post-sales experience working with external customers (or internal clients/stakeholders) across industries
• 4+ years of experience designing Cloud infrastructure/Security and services, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, applying best practices in cloud security and networking, including:
  • Architecting, designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud networks and connectivity (VPC/VNet design, routing, segmentation, private connectivity).
  • Identity & Access Management (e.g. role-based access control, using the principle of least privilege, integration with IdPs, etc)
  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure automation (e.g. Terraform or cloud-specific resource management tools like ARM, CloudFormation, etc).
• Experience supporting customers (external or internal) in designing and implementing a security lakehouse/security data platform on Databricks to augment SIEM, enable security analytics and threat hunting, and build advanced detections.
• Hands-on experience with prompt engineering, vibe coding and agentic tools
• Foundational knowledge of large-scale processing/analytical engines for data pipeline architecture design.
• Databricks Certification(s) will be advantageous for the role.

Notes on the role:

• This will be an office-based contract (Amsterdam), with a hybrid schedule, requiring up to 30% travel when needed for customer visits, events & trainings.
• An initial 12-month fixed-term contract is to be offered, with the expectation of extending/converting to FTE upon successful completion of the probation period.
