Job summary

STAFIDE in Amsterdam is seeking a Senior Python Backend Developer to design, build, and scale enterprise-grade backend services using Python, FastAPI, and a microservices architecture. You will own APIs, event-driven patterns with Kafka, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native deployments on Azure.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional Python development in enterprise software.
• Strong hands‑on expertise in Python, FastAPI, and microservices architecture.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Experience implementing event‑driven architectures using Kafka.
• Strong knowledge of Azure Cloud services and cloud-native development.
• CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Docker, Kubernetes (AKS), and Helm experience.
• Agile/SAFe environments using Jira/Confluence.
• Solid software design principles and lifecycle management.
• Ability to mentor team members and influence technical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python and FastAPI.
• Build, deploy, and support enterprise APIs and distributed services.
• Develop event-driven architectures with Kafka.
• Prepare design documents and technical specifications.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Lead the full SDLC from design to production support and testing.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions).
• Containerize with Docker and deploy on Kubernetes (AKS) using Helm.
• Write tests and ensure high-quality delivery through validation.
• Drive architectural decisions and best practices in the team.
