Leiden Bio Science Park is seeking an experienced Occupational Safety and Process Safety professional to join our Environment, Health and Safety team in Leiden. The role will co-lead and strengthen safety management across laboratories, production areas, engineering environments, and capital projects.

The successful candidate will have an HVK qualification or equivalent, a minimum of 7 years’ progressive experience in biotech or pharmaceutical settings, and the ability to influence stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering or related field; master’s preferred.
• HVK qualification or equivalent senior safety qualification.
• 7+ years in occupational and process safety in biotech/pharma/manufacturing.

Responsabilités

• Develop and maintain occupational and process safety programs across labs, production, and engineering.
• Co-lead process hazard analyses and management of change.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement technical and organizational controls.
• Strengthen safe-work systems: permit to work, confined space entry, hot work, lockout/tagout, energy control.
• Lead or support incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Drive compliance with ISO 45001 and related standards.
• Prepare for audits and EHS reporting.
• Design and deliver training on safety for operators, engineers, and contractors.
• Advise during design, commissioning, qualification, and change-control activities to embed safety by design.
• Promote ownership and proactive risk management and safety culture.
