Job summary

VONQ is seeking a Senior Engineer to drive the technical future of our platform, owning architecture and scaling efforts for job distribution, direct apply, and programmatic advertising systems. You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with product stakeholders, and ensure alignment with external partners.

Required expertise includes PHP, MySQL, and Symfony, with strong API design capabilities (REST, GraphQL) and a track record in scalable platforms. Dutch and English fluency required.

Qualifications

• Extensive professional experience with PHP and MySQL in complex environments; Symfony is a hard requirement.
• Frontend knowledge with Svelte is highly preferred; strong backend focus a must.
• Experience building and scaling complex platforms with high-volume data, APIs (REST/SOAP/GraphQL) and advanced authentication.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and ability to mentor junior/medior developers.
• Fluent in Dutch and English for alignment with partners and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own architectural and technical direction of platform features and improvements.
• Lead development of job distribution, direct apply, and programmatic advertising systems.
• Mentor, coach, and review code for junior/medior engineers.
• Make strategic technical decisions about scalability and reliability.
• Promote clean code and modern development practices with domain-driven design.
