Job summary

Trinamics is seeking a Machine / Industrial Automation Engineer in the Eindhoven region, responsible for designing and implementing control and automation solutions for high‑tech mechatronic systems. You will be the bridge between mechatronics and software, translating concepts into validated, scalable implementations.

The role requires a Master’s or Bachelor’s in Control Engineering or related field, 5+ years in lead engineering, and strong MBSE and software affinity.

Qualifications

• A Master's or Bachelor's degree in Control Engineering, Mechatronics or a comparable technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience in a lead-engineering or senior engineering role.
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and with software development, or clear affinity with it.
• Demonstrable knowledge of sequencing, scheduling and state modelling, coordination of autonomous systems, system network behaviour and communication, damage control and fault handling, and mode switching in hybrid systems.

Responsibilities

• Designing and optimizing control and automation logic for complex mechatronic systems.
• Developing sequencing, scheduling and state-based models for machine behaviour.
• Coordinating autonomous subsystems and safeguarding consistent operation at system level.
• Analyzing system network behaviour, communication flows and timing constraints.
• Implementing strategies for damage control, fault handling and safe recovery.
• Designing mode-switching behaviour for hybrid systems with multiple operating states.
• Defining and implementing calibration, performance monitoring and diagnostics (CPD) concepts that keep the system accurate, stable and serviceable.
• Building and validating dynamic and simulation models using model-based engineering.
• Working closely with mechanical, electrical and software teams, in a lead-engineering role in which you translate complex system behaviour into practical, scalable solutions.
