Job summary

Selectum in Leiden, Netherlands, is seeking an experienced Senior HVAC/Mechanical Engineer to lead multidisciplinary projects in the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector. You will own HVAC design for new installations and modifications, coordinating with on-site teams, clients, and contractors.

The role requires 8+ years in HVAC/Mechanical Engineering, strong knowledge of cleanrooms and mechanical utilities, and proficiency with BIM/3D coordination. Dutch-based site activities are expected.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC or related field.
• 8+ years of HVAC/Mechanical Engineering experience.
• Experience in pharmaceutical/life sciences or regulated environments, preferably with cleanrooms.
• Willing to obtain VOL-VCA certificate.

Responsibilities

• Develop HVAC and mechanical designs from concept through detailed engineering.
• Prepare calculations, equipment specs, datasheets, P&IDs, layouts and technical docs.
• Design and coordinate HVAC systems, cleanrooms and mechanical utilities (chilled water, heating water, steam, condensate).
• Coordinate designs with other disciplines using 3D/BIM models.
• Conduct site surveys and provide tech support during construction, commissioning and handover.

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior HVAC / Mechanical Engineer to support multidisciplinary engineering projects within the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry.

You will work on both new installations and modifications to existing facilities, including HVAC systems, cleanrooms and mechanical utilities. You will take ownership of your engineering activities, working closely with the on-site engineering team, clients, contractors and other disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop HVAC and mechanical designs from concept and basic design through detailed engineering.
• Prepare and review calculations, equipment specifications, datasheets, P&IDs, layouts and technical documentation.
• Design and coordinate HVAC systems, cleanrooms and mechanical utilities, including chilled water, heating water, steam and condensate.
• Coordinate designs with other disciplines using 3D/BIM models.
• Conduct site surveys and provide technical support during construction, commissioning and handover.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant HVAC / Mechanical Engineering experience.
• Experience in pharmaceutical, life sciences or other regulated environments, preferably involving cleanrooms.
• Experience with both new installations and modifications to existing operational facilities.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems and associated mechanical utilities
• Experience with multidisciplinary engineering and BIM/3D coordination.
• Good command of English.
• Valid VOL-VCA certificate or willingness to obtain one before starting site activities.

Working arrangements

• Location: Primarily the Leiden office, with regular client-site visits as required.

In some cases, our client is looking to expand their own organization. In those situations, the employment contract is concluded directly with the client, and the final employment conditions are agreed upon directly with them.
