Job summary

The Member Company in the Netherlands is seeking a Senior Materials Engineer who will lead R&D on metallic materials, coatings, corrosion protection systems, and inorganic materials for demanding industrial applications.

You will design and execute projects, evaluate material performance, translate findings into business solutions, and act as a technical contact for customers, suppliers, labs, and institutes.

Qualifications

• Experience leading R&D projects in materials engineering.
• Strong knowledge of metallic materials, coatings, corrosion protection.
• Ability to translate scientific findings into practical business solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee materials engineering projects from concept to implementation.
• Design and manage test programs for coatings, corrosion, wear, and material performance.
• Investigate material failures and determine root causes through analyses.
• Evaluate and select metals, alloys, coatings, and inorganic materials for applications.
• Interpret data and provide clear technical recommendations.
• Build relationships with customers, suppliers, universities, and laboratories.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
• Support product development, qualification, and manufacturing activities.
• Provide expert guidance on material selection and surface engineering.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
