Job summary

Ryan Specialty is seeking a Senior Transactional Liability Underwriter in Amsterdam to lead underwriting of complex M&A-related liabilities, identify growth opportunities, and ensure high-quality risk assessment and compliance.

You will mentor junior underwriters, monitor regulatory changes, collaborate with legal counsel, and provide actionable insights to senior management. Bachelor's degree and 5+ years in M&A underwriting preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in related field.
• 5+ years of work experience in M&A or financial underwriting.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes complex underwriting contracts and uncovers liabilities to prepare indications, policies and binder agreements.
• Mitigates legal risks and develops optimal coverage structures with internal and external counsel.
• Identifies growth potential and proposes initiatives to underwrite warranty and indemnity policies in M&A.
• Ensures accurate entries in underwriting systems to track exposures and supports M&A underwriting strategy.
• Analyzes complex M&A deal data and provides insights to senior management for underwriting of warranties, tax liability and contingent liability insurance.
• Implements quality assurance measures, reviews policy wordings, and conducts audits to maintain underwriting standards and compliance.
• Adapts communication and leverages knowledge of warranties, tax and contingencies to deliver critical information.
• Monitors regulatory changes, market shifts, deal structure, jurisdiction and indemnification obligations to improve underwriting approaches.
• Mentors junior underwriters and fosters a collaborative underwriting environment.
