Job summary

Redwood Software is seeking an innovative UI Architect to define and drive the strategy for our enterprise Design System and a sharable UI component library. You will lead multi-product reuse, set front-end standards, and collaborate with UX and Product teams to translate requirements into architecture for scalable, accessible interfaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Extensive experience as Senior/Lead Software Developer or Architect with emphasis on React and modern UI design.
• Experience with RESTful API consumption and integration.
• Excellent problem solving, analytical and debugging skills.
• Unit testing and automation tools such as Playwright.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical architecture and roadmap for the Design System and UI library for multi-product reuse.
• Govern front-end engineering standards to ensure a unified user experience.
• Collaborate with UX and Product Management to translate designs into architecture.
• Leverage AI coding assistants to speed up development of complex UI components.
• Review and optimize AI-generated UI code for performance and security.
• Apply prompt engineering to generate robust tests and documentation.
• Drive major UI architectural decisions ensuring scalability and performance.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code following best practices.
• Implement and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, E2E) for quality.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues.
• Stay current with new technologies and advocate adoption.

We are seeking an innovative and highly experienced UI Architect to define and drive the strategy for our front-end ecosystem. In this leadership role, you will be instrumental in defining, designing, and overseeing the development of our enterprise-wide Design System and sharable UI component library, ensuring consistency, scalability, and reusability across all Redwood products. You will guide development teams within an AI-Accelerated SDLC, focusing on high-level system architecture, complex UI problem-solving, and governance of design and component standards.

• Define the technical architecture and roadmap for our enterprise-wide Design System and sharable UI component library, focusing on multi-product reusability, scalability, and accessibility.
• Establish and govern front-end engineering standards and best practices, ensuring all product teams adhere to the Design System for a unified user experience.
• Lead the collaboration with UX and Product Management to translate design requirements into system-level architectural specifications and high-level component designs.
• Utilize AI coding assistants to accelerate development, focusing on complex UI components and offloading repetitive front-end tasks.
• Rigorously review, debug, and optimize AI-generated UI code for performance, accessibility, security, and adherence to established UI/UX standards.
• Apply prompt engineering techniques to maximize the efficacy of generative AI tools for writing comprehensive unit/end-to-end tests (e.g., Playwright) and drafting technical documentation for front-end systems.
• Drive major UI architectural decisions and provide technical guidance to feature development teams to ensure scalability, security, and performance across the product portfolio.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices.
• Implement and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, and end-to-end) to ensure code quality and reliability.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and production issues.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and advocate for their adoption where appropriate.
• Mentor and coach senior and junior developers on modern front-end architectural patterns, effective Design System usage, and AI-accelerated development practices.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Extensive professional experience as a Senior/Lead Software Developer or Architect with a strong emphasis on React and modern UI architectural design.
• Experience with RESTful API consumption and integration.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
• Unit testing and automation tools such as Playwright.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

• AI Tool Fluency: Demonstrated ability to proficiently use AI-powered developer tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, CodeWhisperer) in a production environment.
• Code Judgment: Proven track record of evaluating and overriding AI-generated suggestions that are technically correct but architecturally flawed or non-compliant with security and performance best practices.
• Prompting Proficiency: Experience writing clear, contextual, and effective prompts for generative AI to produce usable code, tests, or documentation.
