Job summary

Vlisco, a heritage brand renowned for its expressive textiles, seeks a Senior Fashion Designer to shape future women’s and men’s collections. You will collaborate with the Creative Director and product team to transform iconic prints into contemporary garments, guiding concepts through to finished pieces with a hands-on approach.

You will lead design processes, ensure exceptional fit and finishing, and uphold Vlisco's distinctive identity while exploring new fashion directions.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of experience as a fashion designer in the high-end or luxury fashion industry.
• Senior-level track record combining conceptual thinking with hands-on design and development skills.
• Strong eye for silhouette, proportion and detail; translate stories and emotions into wearable designs.
• Extensive experience with prints, textures and complex fabrics.
• Understanding of the full design process from concept development and sketching to fittings, sampling and production.
• Ability to balance creative ambition with commercial awareness and practical production requirements.
• A strong appreciation for craftsmanship, cultural heritage and the stories behind textiles and design.
• Confidence to work independently, take ownership and make well-considered creative decisions.
• Collaborative mindset, curiosity and ability to thrive in an evolving creative environment.

Responsibilities

• Co-develop seasonal collections with the Creative Director and product team, from initial concepts and storytelling through to final designs.
• Translate Vlisco's distinctive prints and fabrics into contemporary designs and silhouettes for womenswear and menswear.
• Lead the design process, including sketching, prototyping, fittings and the refinement of silhouettes, construction and details.
• Work closely with the merchandiser to refine the range plan, balancing creative direction with product categories, collection structure and commercial needs.
• Bring fresh ideas, challenge existing concepts and contribute to the overall fashion direction.
• Collaborate with international suppliers and production teams to develop samples and bring designs to life while safeguarding the creative vision.
• Ensure high standards of fit, proportion, construction, craftsmanship and finishing throughout the design process.
• Contribute to the continued development of Vlisco's fashion identity, product categories and long-term creative vision.
