Job summary

van nes + plaisier personeelsdiensten is seeking a Senior Customs Declarant in Rotterdam. The role focuses on accurate and timely customs declarations for imports, exports, and transit, with advisory support on codes, duties, VAT, and regulatory matters.

You will handle VAT representation, assess customs aspects of international shipments, and interact with customs, authorities, and clients. You’ll contribute to process improvements and share expertise with the team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8–10 years relevant experience as Customs Declarant.
• Completed training as Customs Declarant.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of Dutch and EU customs law, AEO and customs licenses.
• Knowledge of VAT fiscal representation.
• Strong Dutch and English; German is a plus.
• Independent, precise, analytical and solution‑oriented.
• Strong communication and digital skills.

Responsibilities

• Process and ensure correct customs declarations for import, export and transit.
• Prepare and verify customs documentation; advise clients on codes, duties, VAT, and taxes.
• Represent VAT fiscal matters and evaluate international goods flows for compliance.
• Identify risks and propose process improvements; collaborate with clients and partners.
• Serve as a sparring partner for clients and colleagues on customs and tax questions.
