Job summary

Protolabs in Amsterdam is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to partner with IT, software development, and stakeholders to scale internal and external applications. You will provision, configure, and maintain version control systems, CI pipelines, and tooling to ensure reliable software delivery.

The role requires strong automation experience, designing high-availability solutions, and contributing to 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 8+ years of relevant work experience; 5+ years managing servers in an enterprise.
• 5+ years supporting code releases into highly available applications; ability to automate manual processes.

Responsibilities

• Provision, install, configure, operate, and maintain version control systems, build pipelines, and CI tooling.
• Partner with development teams to support applications, improve reliability, and promote SRE practices.
• Identify opportunities to increase deployment stability while reducing manual intervention.
• Design and maintain high-availability solutions, including load balancer configuration and optimization.
• Participate in 24/7 operational coverage, including after-hours work and on-call responsibilities.
• Mentor and train colleagues, promoting best practices and knowledge sharing.

Senior DevOps Engineer in Amsterdam

The Senior DevOps Engineer partners closely with IT, software development, and technology stakeholders to support and scale Protolabs’ internal and external business applications. As part of a collaborative DevOps team, this role is responsible for the provisioning, configuration, operation, and maintenance of version control systems, build tools, and continuous integration platforms, ensuring reliable and efficient delivery of software solutions.

What you’ll do

• Contribute to the provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of version control systems, build pipelines, and continuous integration tooling
• Partner with development teams to support applications, enhance reliability, and promote site reliability engineering practices
• Identify and implement opportunities to increase deployment stability while reducing manual intervention
• Design and maintain high-availability solutions, including load balancer configuration and optimization
• Participate in 24/7 operational coverage, including periodic after-hours work and on-call responsibilities
• Support the growth of the team by mentoring and training colleagues, promoting best practices and knowledge sharing

What it takes

• Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree OR minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience; 5+ years experience managing servers in an enterprise environment; 5+ years experience supporting code releases into highly available applications; 2+ years experience supporting server configuration management tooling; 2+ years experience supporting highly available applications; must have the ability to take manual processes and automate them.
