Job summary

Nebius Group in Amsterdam is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own substantial parts of the data platform and deliver complex data products end to end. You will turn ambiguous business needs into pragmatic technical solutions and improve reliability, scalability, and data quality across datasets and pipelines.

You will collaborate with product, platform, and business teams, shaping data models, contracts, and observability while ensuring maintainability as Nebius grows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data/ backend engineering or equivalent production data systems.
• Proven experience delivering complex data pipelines end-to-end.
• Strong Python and SQL; production-grade code.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster).
• Strong data modeling and contracts for multiple consumers.
• Knowledge of data architectures and storage options.
• Reliability-focused design: testing, monitoring, alerting.
• Ability to decide under ambiguity and collaborate with engineers and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own design, delivery, and operation of complex data pipelines and datasets.
• Translate business needs into scalable data models and plans.
• Design and evolve data architecture, storage, processing, and orchestration for large-scale workloads.
• Improve data quality, observability, lineage, and incident response.
• Investigate and resolve performance and data-correctness issues in production.
• Establish reusable tooling and automation to boost engineering productivity.
• Define data contracts, priorities, and success criteria with product teams.
• Contribute to technical direction through design reviews and documentation.
• Mentor engineers through reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
• Participate in on-call rotations and improve operational health.
