Job summary

All About Work is seeking a senior backend developer for the Helios product. The role focuses on building a dynamic, structured data platform for policing data, with a DevOps mindset and close collaboration with analysts, frontend developers, testers, and the Product Owner.

You will design backend features, refactor services, and help shape architecture and technical choices. The position requires 36 hours per week and on-site Utrecht presence 1–2 days weekly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or HBO-level equivalent or 2+ years of equivalent experience
• 5+ years of recent experience with Django REST framework
• 5+ years of recent experience with Kubernetes and Docker
• 5+ years of recent experience with SQL, preferably PostgreSQL
• 36 hours per week and ability to join a five-day team standup at 9:30
• Willingness to be present in Utrecht for 1–2 days weekly
• Able to work in a DevOps, Agile environment and coach peers

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new backend features for Helios
• Refactor and improve existing services
• Contribute to architecture and technical decisions
• Ensure platform reliability, security, scalability, and maintainability
• Collaborate with analysts and frontend developers to make data accessible
• Contribute to demos that show release progress
• Co-manage development and operations of the application from design to production
• Rotate on-call duties and ensure fast, stable incident response with the team
