Job summary

Candidates must hold an ARC Lifeguard certification with CPR for the Professional Rescuer (CPR) or an equivalent, and CPR certificates must be renewed annually. The position pays based on experience and is open to part-time seasonal applicants.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved American Red Cross Lifeguard training program or other approved lifeguard training program as stipulated by the New York State Sanitary Code.
• SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: ARC Basic Life Support for the Professional Rescuer CPR or CPR equivalent; CPR certificates must be renewed annually.
• NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.

Responsibilities

• Stands watch or patrols the pool to keep swimmers within bounds and aids those in difficulty.
• Performs resuscitation techniques and provides first aid as needed.
• May instruct beginners in swimming.
• Keeps pool free of debris and other material that may injure swimmers.
• Maintains order and enforces rules and regulations.
• May perform other duties related to cleaning and adjusting equipment.
