Job summary

SIRE LIFE SCIENCES in Boxmeer is seeking a Research Technician to perform microbiological testing and support quality and continuous improvement within the QC laboratory.

You will conduct sterility, bioburden, and environmental monitoring tests, document results, analyze data, and help ensure GMP compliance, safety, and high laboratory performance.

The role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented mindset and collaboration with cross-functional teams across international settings.

Qualifications

  • Completed MBO/MLO Level 4 in Microbiology.
  • Experience in a GMP-quality controlled laboratory environment preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of microbiological testing techniques: sterility, bioburden, environmental monitoring, aseptic techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Perform, document, and review microbiological QC tests per approved procedures.
  • Perform microbiological techniques including sterility, bioburden, environmental monitoring, and aseptic techniques.
  • Identify, report, and support investigations of OOS results, deviations, and trends per GMP.
  • Enter test results accurately and perform data analysis and trending as required.
  • Ensure lab activities comply with GMP, safety, SOPs, and work instructions.
  • Support continuous improvement and Lean/Six Sigma initiatives and lead improvement projects where appropriate.
  • Develop, review, and update work instructions and SOPs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other teams to maintain high quality and lab performance.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve laboratory processes, efficiency, and reliability.

About the Role

We are looking for a Research Technician to perform microbiological testing and support quality and continuous improvement within the QC laboratory.

Responsibilities
  • Perform, document, and review microbiological QC tests according to approved procedures.
  • Perform microbiological techniques including sterility testing, bioburden testing, environmental monitoring, and aseptic techniques.
  • Identify, report, and support the investigation of OOS results, deviations, and trends in accordance with GMP procedures.
  • Enter test results accurately and perform data analysis and trending where required.
  • Ensure laboratory activities are performed in accordance with GMP, GGO, safety requirements, SOPs, and work instructions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and Lean/Six Sigma initiatives and, where appropriate, take the lead on improvement projects.
  • Support the development, review, and updating of work instructions and SOPs.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and other teams to maintain high standards of quality and laboratory performance.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve laboratory processes, efficiency, and reliability.
Requirements
  • Completed MBO/MLO Level 4 education in Microbiology or a related microbiology discipline.
  • Previous experience working in a quality-controlled laboratory environment; GMP experience is highly preferred.
  • Practical knowledge or experience with microbiological testing techniques, such as sterility, bioburden, environmental monitoring, and aseptic techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail with a quality-focused and accurate working style.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical, solution-oriented approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both Dutch and English, verbally and in writing.
  • Affinity with continuous improvement and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Comfortable working in a complex, regulated, and changing environment.
  • A proactive team player who takes initiative and maintains an overview of priorities.
