Job summary

ADM is seeking a Regional Functional Safety Engineer to lead the Safety program across Europoort Rotterdam and other sites in the Netherlands. You will drive the Functional Safety lifecycle, provide technical leadership, and coordinate with Operations, EHS and engineering teams.

You will ensure training and certification, perform HRA, and guide decisions using IEC 61511/62443/61508 guidance, while working with regional stakeholders to embed safety across the facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Instrumentation/Controls, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
• CFSE and/or CFSA certification.
• Significant industrial experience with SIS and Functional Safety in operating facilities.
• Strong understanding of Process Safety and its relation to Functional Safety.
• Experience across the Functional Safety Lifecycle (SRS, SIL verification, MOC, investigations).
• Experience facilitating Hazard & Risk Assessments (HRA).
• Experience working within an ISO 45001 framework.
• Strong organisational and project-management skills; able to coordinate multiple activities and stakeholders across facilities.
• Excellent written and spoken English; a second European language is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and development of the Functional Safety program across the region, coordinating site activities and resources.
• Ensure long-term sustainability of the Functional Safety Lifecycle with governance across facilities.
• Provide expert guidance on Functional Safety and SIS to Operations, EHS and engineering teams.
• Partner with regional Process Control & Automation, Reliability & Maintenance, and Total Process Safety teams.
• Ensure training and certification to meet Functional Safety requirements.
• Lead regional and site-level management reviews and governance.
• Collaborate with Regional Managers and Total Process Safety Technology Center to improve processes, tools and standards.
• Provide guidance on IEC 61511, IEC 62443 & IEC61508.
• Provide technical leadership across Safety Lifecycle activities (SRS, SIL, MOC, investigations).
• Facilitate Hazard & Risk Assessments and integrate with Process Safety and EHS.
• Use data and recognised standards to support safety decisions.
