Job description

QHSE Manager | Van Vliet Demolition
About the role

Strong QHSE leadership starts with the right manager. Could that be you?

Van Vliet Demolition is looking for an experienced QHSE Manager who puts quality, health, safety, environmental responsibility, and compliance at the heart of everything we do.

In this independent role, you will take ownership of developing, implementing, and continuously improving our QHSE policies at both strategic and operational levels.

You will work closely with management, project teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient project delivery across the Netherlands and internationally.

This is an opportunity to make a visible impact within a specialized organization operating in some of the most challenging industrial environments.

Your responsibilities

As QHSE Manager, you will oversee our QHSE management system and ensure that safety, quality, and environmental standards are embedded in our daily operations.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve QHSE policies, procedures, and management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, client requirements, and certification standards, including VCA-P, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
  • Conduct risk assessments, lead toolbox meetings, and support project teams in preparing health and safety plans and Task Risk Assessments.
  • Visit project locations in the Netherlands and abroad to monitor compliance and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits in collaboration with external advisers and certification bodies.
  • Monitor QHSE performance indicators, identify improvement opportunities, and report directly to management.
  • Maintain QHSE documentation, project files, waste-stream records, and the Dutch National Asbestos Tracking System (LAVS).
  • Advise management on QHSE priorities, investments, annual plans, and management reviews.
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients, regulatory authorities, subcontractors, and other external stakeholders.
What we're looking for

We are looking for a proactive QHSE professional who combines technical knowledge with a practical approach to safety and compliance.

You bring
  • Experience as a QHSE Manager, HSE Manager, or Senior QHSE Coordinator within a technical, industrial, or project-driven environment.
  • A strong understanding of operational safety, risk management, and quality assurance.
  • Experience in industrial demolition, petrochemicals, oil & gas, industrial construction, or similar high-risk environments.
  • An MVK qualification or the ambition to obtain one. An HVK qualification is a strong advantage.
  • MBO+ or HBO working and thinking level, supported by relevant qualifications.
  • Practical knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and VCA-P.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to challenge unsafe practices and advise management.
  • A good command of Dutch and English. German is an advantage.
  • Strong digital skills and experience working with management systems.
  • A valid Category B driving license.

Experience with demolition projects, asbestos removal, or the petrochemical sector is considered a strong advantage.

What we offer

At Van Vliet Demolition, you will join a compact, dynamic, and informal team where your expertise and decisions have a direct impact on our operations.

You will have the freedom and responsibility to shape the QHSE function while working on complex industrial projects for leading international clients.

Our employment package includes
  • Gross monthly salary between €5,500 and €6,500.
  • A permanent employment contract.
  • Company car, laptop, and smartphone.
  • 25 days of annual leave.
  • A good pension scheme.
  • A high level of independence and responsibility.
  • Opportunities to work on challenging projects in the Netherlands and internationally.
