Qualifications

Main responsibilities

Portfolio responsibilities

The Public Affairs manager coordinates as a Business Partner the blending of internal and external voices in order to:

  • Establish and agree on the issue or unmet need
  • Communicate & advocate for the right solution
  • Shape the environment to create market readiness
  • Develop and support an implementation pathway
Core activities 1. Mapping & Insights – health care environment
  • Identify policy/health issues that impact the business
  • Understand the external environment and identify the expectations and interests of key external stakeholders
  • Develop broad view on general developments in Dutch healthcare sector (e.g. through participation in conferences, symposia, etc…)
  • Follow-up of policy framework and changes in environment, especially for assigned GBU(s)
  • Monitor and analyse new government initiatives, potential change in law and broader developments (including parliamentary activities regarding healthcare), identifying key trends
  • Proactively assess their potential local business consequences in close collaboration with other teams (market access, communication, regulatory, medical, GBUs / franchises)
  • Develop guidance on external environment evolution and inform proactively relevant internal stakeholders (market access, communication, regulatory, medical, GBUs / franchises)
  • Map and manage the relevant key stakeholders in the assigned health care environment
Core activities 2. Strategy Setting
  • Determine the engagement and advocacy strategies that will most effectively achieve policy changes and business objectives
  • Construct and roll-out a long-term Public Affairs plan for the assigned GBU(s), in line with both the GBU and cross-departmental priorities, and adapt plan to changing situations and priorities if needed
  • Development of campaigns in collaboration with GBUs, PA BPs, Market Access and Communication colleagues
  • Work together with the Head PA (Public Affairs) and other PA BPs (Business Partners) in order to determine country priorities
Core activities 3. Engaging
  • Identify and approach stakeholders and influencers to understand common points of interest or similar priorities in their agendas
  • Engage to continue or start building trust-based relations
  • Build contacts with external parties, including the development of a stakeholder network, in line with the priorities of the Public Affairs plan and the priorities of the local business
  • Build opportunities for strategic dialogue on health system with interlocutors and advocate for sustainable evolution of the legislative framework
  • Be the Sanofi/GBU representative in some key platforms of discussion, both internal and external
Core activities 4. Advocating
  • Determine approaches to engage and activate external stakeholders to achieve policy changes and business objectives and execute them by means of coalition-building, proactive campaigns, calls to action, etc.
  • Ensure Sanofi’s point of view is heard by establishing and maintaining open dialogue between Sanofi Netherlands and (non-traditional) external key stakeholders
  • Develop partnerships with healthcare provider associations (physicians, pharmacists, hospital, nurses…), sickness funds, trade associations, patient associations (overarching), think tanks…, in order to discuss trends and concerns and evaluate together how to maintain both a sustainable healthcare system and balanced economic environment
  • Enhance Sanofi’s visibility and reputation both within and outside the pharmaceutical industry, e.g. through implementation of corporate programs, active participation in conferences, symposia, industry association meetings
  • Educate stakeholders on value specific topics following the GBU Business Partner role
  • Contribute to obtain regulatory/financial framework for PSP programs (p.ex. Home Care)
  • Maintain and elevate relevant topics on the political agenda
  • Focus on disease awareness and medical need for (upcoming) products in the GBU portfolio

Experience

Strong track record in public affairs, advocacy or in a political/governmental environment Understanding of the Dutch political and health care system Preferred: Experience working in or with the pharmaceutical sector Preferred: An existing network of relevant stakeholders in the Netherlands

Education

Master’s degree in an appropriate field (Health Sciences, Political science, Policy) or equivalent experience. Medical degree (pharmacist, doctor) is welcomed

Languages

Excellent command of Dutch and English, both verbal and written, is a strict requirement

The salary range for this position is :€74.000,00 - €98.000 Final compensation will be determined based on demonstrated experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors. Employees may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs.
