Job description

Would you like to help turn innovative technology into tangible results for the future of aviation? In this role, you will work on Research & Technology projects that contribute to the sustainability and decarbonisation of the aviation sector. You will operate at the intersection of technology, research and business, working closely with engineers, research institutes, universities, industry partners and government organisations. As Project Manager, you will ensure that technically complex and partly publicly funded projects are executed in a structured manner, within budget and according to schedule.

Your responsibilities

You will keep multiple technical R&T projects on track and support Project Leaders in their successful execution.

  • You monitor project schedules, milestones, technical deliverables, budgets, risks and KPIs.
  • You manage project budgets and contracts and ensure clear financial reporting and project documentation.
  • Together with engineers, you translate complex technical developments into concrete actions, reports and project results.
  • You coordinate contractual and reporting obligations within, among others, nationally and European-funded research projects.
  • You bring internal and external stakeholders together, facilitate project meetings and workshops, and contribute to project proposals and the further professionalisation of project management processes.

You will join an international technology environment focused on innovative solutions for the future of aviation. From Leiden, a multidisciplinary team works on Research & Technology projects that contribute, among other things, to accelerating the decarbonisation of the sector. The environment is technically driven, international and strongly focused on collaboration: engineers, project leaders and support functions work closely with universities, research institutes, industry partners and government organisations. As a result, you will not only work on technically challenging projects, but also experience the dynamics of research consortia, public funding and diverse stakeholder interests.

Your profile
  • You have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management or a comparable field.
  • You have approximately 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in project management, preferably within aerospace, high-tech, the energy transition or another technical innovation environment.
  • You have demonstrable experience in managing and monitoring budgets and contracts.
  • You have strong stakeholder management skills and can collaborate effectively with engineers, Finance, Legal and various external parties.
  • You have sufficient technical understanding to comprehend technical project deliverables and translate them into concrete actions and reports, and you have an excellent command of English.
  • Preferred: experience with publicly funded research projects, research consortia or public-private partnerships. Knowledge of SAP, Lean and/or a certification such as PMP, IPMA or Scrum is also considered an advantage.
Offer
  • A gross monthly salary of € salary to be discussed, depending on your knowledge and experience.
  • A position for 32 to 40 hours per week, with 40 hours preferred.
  • A one-year temporary-to-permanent arrangement, with the possibility of a permanent employment contract afterwards.
  • An international working environment in which you directly contribute to innovative technology and the sustainability of aviation.
  • Plenty of technical and professional challenges through collaboration with engineers, universities, industry partners, research institutes and government organisations, with a maximum of approximately 10% travel.
