Van Oord is seeking a Data & AI Engineer to join the Value Assurance team within Tendering & Engineering in Rotterdam. You translate complex engineering challenges into practical AI solutions and serve as the bridge to our central Data & Analytics team.

You will design production-ready AI applications on our Databricks platform, work with estimators and engineers, and help deliver reliable data-driven decisions for tenders and projects.

Competenze

• BSc or MSc in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• At least 4 years of professional experience in data, AI or software engineering with Python and SQL in production.
• Experience with Databricks and Azure is a plus.
• Experience with RAG applications, embeddings, hybrid search and reranking.
• Experience evaluating AI quality, reliability and performance, ideally with deep learning knowledge.

• Translate tendering and engineering processes into clear technical scopes, automation and decision support.
• Design and build production-ready AI solutions and data flows within platform guidelines.
• Develop applications using large language models, including RAG solutions.
• Build integrations between AI applications, engineering systems and production data sources.
• Evaluate and monitor AI solutions' quality, reliability and performance.
