Job summary

Flowable is a leading provider of intelligent process and case automation solutions. We are hiring a Product AI and Backend Engineer to advance the Flowable Agentic Case Platform using Java, Spring Boot, and AI technologies.

You will contribute to Flowable Open-Source Engines and collaborate with a global community to deliver high-impact features. You’ll work on cutting-edge AI tooling, contribute to workshops, and help shape product evolution in a fast-paced, open-source friendly environment in

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience as a Software Engineer with Java.
• 3+ years of experience with Spring Boot.
• Experience with AI tools like Claude Code and developing major features with it.
• Experience with relational databases (Oracle, Postgres, DB2, MS SQL Server).
• Familiarity with Flowable or BPMN is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work on bleeding edge AI technologies to build the Flowable Agentic Case Platform.
• Design, build and operate features for Flowable Open-Source Engines (BPMN, CMMN, DMN).
• Participate in workshops to design features and provide solutions.
• Work efficiently to build the right things with limited guidance.
• Contribute to open-source projects with a large community.

Responsibilities:

• Work on bleeding edge AI technologies to build the Flowable Agentic Case Platform.
• Use AI tooling like Claude Code to design and develop new features for the Flowable Agentic Case Platform.
• You will design, build and operate the development of Flowable Open-Source Engines (BPMN, CMMN, DMN) etc.
• Participate in workshops to design new features and / or provide solutions to our customers
• You will need to work efficiently to build the right things with limited guidance
• You will have the opportunity to work on open-source projects with a large community

• 6+ years of experience as a Software Engineer with Java
• 3+ years of experience with Spring Boot
• Experience with developing a software product
• Experience with AI tools like Claude Code and developing major features with it.
• Experience with various relational databases like Oracle, Postgres, DB2, Microsoft SQL Server etc is a must.
• Experience working with Flowable or BPMN knowledge is a plus
• Knowledge of Elasticsearch is a plus
