Practice Lead – Data Science

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

Responsibilities

• Work with clients to understand their challenges, diagnose problems, design solutions, and facilitate deployment on the cloud.
• Lead or contribute as an individual to projects, managing small teams when required.
• Shape value‑adding consulting solutions by integrating various cloud components.
• Guide teams on debugging pipeline failures and optimizing AI workflows.
• Engage stakeholders with status updates, progress reports, and operational metrics for AI models.
• Automate, improve technology and processes, and set coding, pipeline, and documentation standards.
• Adhere to KPI/SLA for pipeline run and execution.
• Research new cloud technologies, services, and AI advancements.
• Assist clients with operationalization metrics to track AI model performance.
• Use Agile practices to manage team effort and track progress via JIRA.

Qualifications

• Domain experience in Retail, CPG, Logistics, Manufacturing, Life Sciences, Finance or Insurance.
• Strong technical acumen in Python, dev‑ops (1‑2+ projects), and cloud services (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Hands‑on coding experience with Open‑source OCR/NLP tools (Tesseract, PaddleOCR) and deep‑learning models (YOLO, Detectron).
  • Fine‑tuning pretrained PyTorch/TensorFlow models.
• Experience developing information‑extraction pipelines, data modeling, and semantic search using sparse/dense indexes and LLM tools (LangChain, LlamaIndex, Haystack).
• Microservices development, API backend with FastAPI.
• MLOps expertise: model/dockerization, Kubernetes deployment, and production operationalization across AWS, Azure, GCP.
• Proficiency with relational, graph, and vector databases (SQL, Neo4j, Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant).
• Design and implementation of ML systems, pipelines, and MLOps practices.
• Event‑driven orchestration and online model deployment knowledge.
• Hands‑on experience collaborating with client IT/business teams to gather requirements and translate them for development.
• Client relationship management and business case development for opportunities.
• Strong communication skills: high‑impact presentations, audience assessment, timeline adherence.
• Exposure to US or European overseas markets preferred.
• Proactive, customer‑focused mindset with a passion for process innovation.
• Availability for domestic and international travel as required.
