Job summary

Delt University of Technology seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher for the Regio Deal New Towns project, bridging science and practice in Capelle aan den IJssel, Nissewaard and Zoetermeer. You split time between municipal sites and the Delft campus, contributing to governance and spatial transformations.

You will conduct transdisciplinary research, organize workshops, publish in journals and present at conferences, collaborating with Haagsche Hogeschool and Erasmus University Rotterdam to build

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field such as urban geography, urban planning, or sustainability transitions.
• Experience in multi- and transdisciplinary settings.
• Interest in socio-physical challenges and public-sector collaboration.
• Experience with qualitative research methods.
• Strong written and spoken Dutch and English.
• Experience working with civil servants, residents, or public/private actors is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop academically rigorous and practice-relevant research on New Town challenges, governance and solutions.
• Collaborate with a municipality and translate findings into practical applications.
• Engage with researchers at partner institutions and exchange knowledge.
• Organise workshops and reflection sessions to foster transdisciplinary learning.
• Publish articles in peer-reviewed journals and practitioner magazines.
• Present research at national and international conferences and build networks.
