Job summary

The Department of Human Movement Sciences at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher to lead two IPC-funded projects on improving classification for vision-impaired athletes.

You will collaborate with international partners to develop and validate new vision assessment tools, and coordinate a global research network involved in evaluating efficacy, reliability, and validity of the tools.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant discipline completed.
• Experience conducting independent scientific research.
• Strong publication record for career stage.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience in international collaborations is an advantage.
• Programming experience in Matlab, Python, R, Unity or willingness to acquire.
• Experience in sport, disability sport, rehabilitation or vision science is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day execution of two IPC-funded projects.
• Develop and validate new classification assessment tools with programmers.
• Design studies involving athletes with vision impairment.
• Coordinate data collection across collaborating institutions.
• Analyze and interpret data.
• Prepare manuscripts for publication in international peer-reviewed journals.
• Present research findings at conferences and stakeholder meetings.
• Liaise with IPC and project stakeholders regarding progress.
• Supervise Master research students.
• Contribute to dissemination activities and grant applications.
