TU/e is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to advance the theory, architecture and system-level design of multi-user MIMO free-space optical communication for future satellite links. The role focuses on analyzing trade-offs, channel models and KPIs to enable secure, robust, cost-efficient laser communication for space applications.

You will work in the ICT Lab of the Signal Processing Systems group, collaborating with a PhD candidate and possibly with TNO for in-space demonstrator work.

Qualificações

• A PhD degree, or near completion, in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Applied Physics, Computer Science, or closely related field.
• Strong research profile in information theory, optical wireless communication or related areas.
• Ability to define system-level research questions and perform design trade-offs.
• Experience with analytical modeling, simulation and performance evaluation using MATLAB or Python.
• Experience with free-space optical satellite communications or RF/MIMO is advantageous.
• Proven publication record and ability to communicate research clearly.

Responsabilidades

• Define system-level research questions, derive requirements and perform architectural trade-offs.
• Develop analytical frameworks and compare candidate multi-user FSO architectures.
• Collaborate with PhD students and partners (e.g., TNO) on simulations and demonstrators.
• Publish high-impact journal papers and contribute to proposals and workshops.
• Present findings to academic and applied-research stakeholders.
