Delft University of Technology is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to model ocean–sea ice interactions within the ERC-funded ICE-FLOE project. Applications close on 10 November 2026 at 23:59 Europe/Amsterdam.
The project develops coupled simulations of turbulent ocean flow and sea-ice dynamics using large-eddy simulation and discrete-element methods. The work will validate models against in-situ and remote-sensing data and develop parameterisations relevant to climate models, with possible involvement in Antarctic field campaigns.
Applicants should hold a PhD in oceanography, cryospheric science, climate science, atmospheric science or a closely related field.
Experience with large-eddy simulation, turbulence, sea-ice modelling or numerical geophysical fluid dynamics is relevant; Julia experience is advantageous.
