Job summary

Delft University of Technology invites applications for a Postdoctoral researcher to study how large offshore wind farms affect precipitation. You will lead numerical experiments, analyze atmospheric and oceanic processes, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to uncover underlying mechanisms.

The position emphasises independent work, strong numerical skills, and the ability to relate model results to observations, within a 18-month project at TU Delft.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Earth sciences, physics, applied mathematics, engineering, computer science or related discipline.
  • Strong skills in fluid mechanics and numerical modelling.
  • Experience with large observational datasets of environmental variables.
  • Experience with Matlab, Python.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Experience with peer-reviewed scientific publishing will be appreciated.

Responsibilities

  • Design and carry out numerical experiments to assess wind-farm effects on precipitation.
  • Analyze model results and interpret the physical mechanisms linking offshore wind farms to precipitation.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to shape the research direction.
