Job summary

Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) invites a highly motivated MSc graduate to join a four‑year PhD project on ecosystem orchestration in Dutch infrastructure governance. You will study how digitalisation and sustainability ambitions are aligned across public and private actors within long‑term, interdependent pressures.

You will conduct interviews, analyse documents, apply systems thinking, and publish findings to support practitioners and policymakers.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (construction management, civil engineering, project management, or related).
  • Strong interest in infrastructure ecosystems and cross-organisational governance.
  • Experience with qualitative case study research, interviews, document analysis and systems thinking.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; Dutch is an advantage but not required.
  • Ability to work independently and with a multidisciplinary team; willingness to conduct fieldwork.

Responsibilities

  • Study how paradoxes in the twin transition emerge across public‑private infrastructure ecosystems.
  • Carry out interviews, analyse documents, and map tensions over time using systems thinking.
  • Contribute to research on infrastructure governance, inter‑organisational collaboration, and socio‑technical transitions.
  • Publish findings and engage with practitioners and policymakers through collaborative activities.
