Job summary

The PhD position at TU Delft's Faculty of Aerospace Engineering focuses on simulating the airspace of the future, with fleet and network optimization for new aircraft concepts. Based in Delft, you will join DASAL, collaborating with NLR and policymakers to analyze sustainability, economics, and societal impact in aviation.

Qualifications

• MSc in a related field (Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics) is required or strongly preferred.
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience building simulation environments.
• Experience with fleet planning, airline network scheduling, and/or optimization methods is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design simulation models to couple new aircraft designs with fleet allocation and scheduling.
• Develop methods and models to minimize fleet-wide emissions and optimize operations.
• Collaborate with researchers across the Faculty and industry partners to build an integrated simulation environment.
