Job summary

Tilburg University invites applications for a 6-year position in the Intelligent Systems (DIS) department. The successful candidate will spend 60% of their time as a PhD student and 40% as a lecturer, leading practical sessions, grading assignments and exams, and supervising thesis students.

The PhD project will focus on AI for cybersecurity, targeting intrusion detection and root-cause analysis, with the aim of helping human analysts make better decisions.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, machine learning, cybersecurity, or related field.
• Knowledge of artificial intelligence, machine learning, data mining, and/or cybersecurity.
• Excellent knowledge of English and good academic writing skills.
• Dutch proficiency is preferred but not necessary for the role.

Responsibilities

• Lead practical sessions, grade assignments and exams, and supervise thesis students.
• Advance the PhD project together with supervision team; research on AI for cybersecurity.
