AMOLF, located in Amsterdam, invites applications for a PhD position in the Photonic Materials group focused on PINEM and metasurface design using ultrafast electron microscopy. The project runs for four years with a start date planned for December 1, 2026, and a 40-hour work week.

Qualifications

• MSc degree in physics or equivalent qualification.
• Strong background in physics with an interest in nanophotonics and quantum physics.
• Experience with nanofabrication and electron microscopy is desirable.
• Applications from underrepresented groups encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Study PINEM interactions and metasurface design in SEM.
• Develop non-local optical metasurfaces to control electron-light interactions.
• Collaborate with AMOLF and University of Amsterdam groups.
