Job summary

TU Delft's QuTech invites applications for a PhD position on quantum error correction for photonics. You will work within the Terhal group at the Department of Applied Mathematics, focusing on fault-tolerant architectures for photonic platforms and on extending circuit-based ideas to fusion-based computation.

The PhD includes several secondments (QuiX, UCL) and training activities. The contract runs four years with Dutch university salary scales (€3,204–€4,051 monthly), plus 8% holiday

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in physics or quantum technology.
  • Theoretical background in optics and quantum technologies. Preferred: knowledge and MSc research experience in quantum error correction
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Design, numerically simulate and decode (small) quantum error correction protocols.
  • Collaborate with researchers at QuTech and Riverlane.
  • Work on photonic, optical and microwave quantum computing architectures.
