Job summary

Universitair Medisch Centrum Groningen invites applications for a PhD project on Precision Repair of Donor Livers During Machine Perfusion. You will join the CRISPR-CRYSTAL consortium, working at the interface of transplantation, nanotechnology, and epigenetic editing.

The project employs real-time quantum sensing and CRISPR-based therapies with human donor liver models and international collaboration. A Master’s degree in a related field is required, and the position is 28.8 hours per week with

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills required.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Affinity with translational and interdisciplinary research.
  • Proactive, independent and collaborative working style.
  • Experience with organ perfusion, nanoparticle delivery, and CRISPR is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform long-term ex vivo liver perfusion experiments.
  • Evaluate mitochondrial function and liver viability during perfusion.
  • Test nanoparticle-based delivery systems and CRISPR therapies.
  • Analyze data and present findings at scientific meetings.
  • Collaborate with academic and industrial consortium partners.
  • Contribute to publications and PhD thesis.
