Job summary

Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) invites a PhD candidate to address urgent energy infrastructure planning challenges in collaboration with Stedin. The project aims to develop robust methods and MGA-based tools under uncertainty, linking socio-economic developments to grid investments and energy system design.

You will work with TU Delft researchers and Stedin system strategists, spending one day weekly at Stedin’s Rotterdam premises, contributing to impactful energy policy and practice.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree by start date in engineering, physics or related discipline.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills expected.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Dutch required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop methods to capture plausible socio-economic developments for energy planning.
  • Quantify implications on local energy infrastructure and KPI trade-offs.
  • Generate insights to prioritise near-term investments under uncertainty.
