TU Delft seeks a highly motivated PhD student to decode environmental information from living microorganisms and pursue living sensing and memory systems. The project blends biodesign, machine learning, and interaction design, and will be shaped by the candidate's interests and expertise.

You will cultivate organisms, model their visible responses, and develop decoders that recover environmental history from images.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in CS/EE/Biodesign/Design Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in building and deploying ML or computer vision models.
  • Interest in biodesign and hands-on work with living organisms.

Responsibilities

  • Decode environmental information from living microorganisms.
  • Develop and validate computational decoders from images.
  • Design prototypes with living sensors for packaging or monitoring.
