Job summary

Empiric is seeking an OT Cyber Security Engineer to join the Projects Engineering organization in Den Haag, Netherlands. You will focus on cybersecurity for OT systems, including instrumentation, control, safety, fire & gas, and metering systems, and support NIS2 compliance across IT and OT environments.

Travel offshore as required, and collaborate with cybersecurity suppliers and internal authorities to implement remediation plans and centralize OT logs and security controls.

Qualifications

• Hands‑on knowledge of IEC 62443.
• Hands‑on knowledge of NIS2 requirements applicable to OT environments.
• Knowledge of Oil & Gas exploration and production operations.
• Experience with OT, instrumentation and instrumented systems.
• Knowledge of industrial networks and protocols (Modbus, OPC, Profibus, EtherNet/IP).
• Typically 5+ years in a relevant field.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Projects Engineering organization is primarily responsible for engineering and optimizing its installations within the framework of applicable global integrity management standards. Within this team, the OT Cyber Security Engineer supports cybersecurity projects related to NIS2, local internal technical authorities, the offshore organization, and IT. The role focuses on the cybersecurity of operational technology, including instrumentation, control systems, safety systems, fire and gas systems, telecommunications systems, subsea control systems, and metering systems.

MAIN DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES

The OT Cyber Security Engineer focuses on meeting NIS2 requirements for OT systems. The organization is implementing these requirements across IT and OT environments, based on an OT gap assessment and an agreed remediation plan. Key responsibilities include:

• Consolidate OT networks by platform.
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards.
• Implement an industrial intrusion detection solution, such as Nozomi Networks.
• Collect and centralize OT logs by platform.
• Implement application allow listing solutions.
• Implement and secure domain controllers for the OT environment.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES, QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE

• Relevant BSc degree in instrumentation engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience demonstrating the same level of capability.
• Hands‑on knowledge of IEC 62443.
• Hands‑on knowledge of NIS2 requirements applicable to OT environments.
• Knowledge of the specialist area, exploration and production operations, and the Oil Gas industry.
• Hands‑on knowledge of OT, instrumentation, and instrumented systems, including process control, safety, fire and gas, metering, and condition‑monitoring systems.
• Hands‑on knowledge of industrial networks.
• Hands‑on knowledge of industrial protocols, including Modbus, OPC, Profibus, and EtherNet/IP.
• Typically, a minimum of five years of experience in a relevant field or discipline.
