Job summary

The University of Amsterdam (UvA) invites applications for an open-rank faculty position in mathematics, spanning Assistant to Full Professor. The role emphasizes research in analysis, teaching, and leadership within the KdVI.

We offer a permanent-tenured track after an initial 18 months, a full-time 38-hour-week contract, with salary scales from €3,706 to €10,815 monthly, plus holiday and year-end allowances. Applications accepted until 1 November 2026.

Qualifications

PhD in Mathematics or closely related field.
Strong commitment to research in analysis with potential to develop directions within the group.
Experience in university-level teaching with didactic abilities.
Experience in (co-)supervision of BSc/MSc/PhD students.
Proven ability to attract external funding and grant writing experience.
Engagement in valorisation activities and interdisciplinary/industrial collaborations.
Excellent command of English; Dutch proficiency desirable with willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

Further develop an internationally visible research line in analysis by publishing in high-level journals, presenting at conferences, and supervising PhD students.
Set up and develop a research group and contribute to scientific direction and leadership.
Pursue national and international research funding, focusing on strategic grants.
Contribute to teaching at bachelor and master level, supervise theses, and participate in national master programmes.
Collaborate with researchers across disciplines and foster interdisciplinary collaborations.
Engage in organisational activities and leadership roles within the institute and faculty.
