Job summary

Damen Offshore & Specialized Vessels seeks a Design & Proposal Engineer in Gorinchem to translate customer requirements into feasible vessel concepts and competitive proposals. You collaborate with Sales, Tender Management, Product Specialists and engineering across the project lifecycle to deliver ship designs, technical specs and delivery input.

You may work on concepts or lead design optimization and new vessel concepts, depending on experience, shaping challenges to match your background

Qualifications

Completed technical education in shipbuilding, naval architecture or marine engineering.
Experience in ship design, naval architecture, proposal engineering or related field.
Affinity with complex vessels, defense markets and engineering-to-order projects.
Understanding of customer requirements, design trade-offs, costs and standardization.
Experience with ship design tools; knowledge of 2D/3D design is an advantage.
Strong English communication; Dutch is a plus.

Responsibilities

Translate customer, market and tender requirements into vessel concepts and proposal designs.
Prepare ship designs, technical specifications, scope descriptions and proposal docs.
Calculate cost price elements and provide input for delivery time, planning and commercial decisions.
Support Sales and Tender Management with technical input, presentations and reviews.
Collaborate with Product Specialists, Engineering, Production and Supply Chain to develop proposals.
Identify risks, interfaces and trade-offs; document for internal decisions and customers.
