HaskoningDHV seeks a Nautical Consultant to join the Ports and Nautical Consultancy team in Delft and Amersfoort. You will advise on navigation, ship manoeuvrability, safety and port planning for clients worldwide, drawing on extensive nautical expertise.
You will conduct navigational studies, including fast-time and real-time simulations, provide guidance to project teams and clients, and may manage projects with a focus on performance, client satisfaction and financial results.

The maritime industry is rapidly developing and there is increasing demand for our consultancy services from clients worldwide. Nautical studies and assessments are a crucial part of our projects.
You will be part of our team of Nautical Consultants based in Delft and Amersfoort. In this role, you will act as an advisor and consultant on a wide range of maritime and port projects for various clients worldwide, covering navigation, ship manoeuvrability, navigational safety, marine services, and port planning from a nautical perspective. You will carry out navigational studies including fast‑time simulations and guide real‑time simulations in collaboration with trusted partners. You will provide expert advice to project teams and external clients, and you will sometimes act as the project manager. You will also manage standalone nautical projects with responsibility for financial results, progress, client satisfaction, and communications.

As our Nautical Consultant, you will join the Port Consultancy team, which consists of about 25 professionals active in the port/maritime consultancy field. We are an international team with a mix of juniors, mid‑level, and experienced seniors. We value active knowledge sharing and the contribution of everyone. You will have opportunities to learn on the job from experienced colleagues and share experiences.
You are passionate about sailing, ship manoeuvring, ship safety, and port planning. You have strong communication and persuasion skills, both verbal and written (in English and preferably Dutch), and you enjoy presenting ideas to clients and colleagues. You are curious about other cultures and countries and like to learn from diverse experiences.
You have a Master’s degree (MSc) in Civil Engineering or Maritime Technology and at least 5 years of proven experience as a nautical advisor/consultant in the port sector. The following apply:
