Job summary

PwC is seeking a Backend Developer to build and improve data-heavy apps and AI/agentic solutions. You’ll work in a hybrid setup from Amsterdam and/or Utrecht, translating designs into working software and delivering end-to-end features with robust testing and deployment support.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to scale and improve solutions, focusing on secure, scalable backend services and APIs using Python (Django/FastAPI) and modern DevOps practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of software development experience
• Bachelor’s level of working and thinking in a relevant field
• Strong knowledge of Python, with solid experience in Django and/or FastAPI.
• Solid understanding of backend development, REST APIs, databases (SQL)
• Experience with AI, LLMs, or agentic solutions.
• Experience with unit and integration testing
• Familiarity with Git, pull requests and code reviews
• Experience with Docker and containerized environments
• Experience mentoring or advising peers on development practices
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum (and/or SAFe) environments
• Knowledge of security best practices and development standards
• Ability to independently deliver features based on functional designs
• Good analytical, communication and collaboration skills
• A proactive mindset and comfort working with changing requirements

Responsibilities

• Developing backend functionality for innovation products, primarily with Python (Django and/or FastAPI).
• Translating designs and user stories into working software.
• Delivering features end-to-end, including testing and deployment support.
• Building and maintaining components, APIs, integrations and backend services.
• Integrating frontend components with backend APIs and data services.
• Writing clean, secure, maintainable and scalable code.
• Writing unit tests and supporting integration/regression testing.
• Performing peer reviews and contributing to overall code quality.
• Supporting troubleshooting, bug fixing and performance improvements.
• Identifying technical risks, dependencies and improvement opportunities.
• Contributing to CI/CD, DevOps practices and Agile/Scrum events.
• Documenting technical decisions and implementation details;
