Job summary

Sia Partners in Amsterdam is seeking a Microsoft/Azure Stack Engineer to design and deliver Azure infrastructure for clients while exploring AI Foundry demos. You’ll combine hands-on cloud work with strategic advisory in a consultant role, traveling within the Benelux as needed.

You will collaborate with client teams, engineers, and the Sia AI practice to shape architecture, governance, and deployment roadmaps.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on Azure in production environments.
• Strong knowledge of Azure core services: compute, networking, storage, identity, and security.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools: Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or comparable CI/CD tooling.
• Scripting proficiency in PowerShell or Python.
• Interest in or experience with Azure AI Foundry or building AI demos/proofs of concept is a strong plus.
• A relevant Microsoft certification (AZ-104, AZ-305, or AZ-400) is a plus.
• Willingness to travel within the Benelux.
• Fluent in Dutch and English.

Responsibilities

• Consult directly with client teams and stakeholders, explaining architectural trade-offs clearly.
• Design and implement Azure infrastructure (compute, networking, storage, identity).
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support IaC deployments (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates).
• Manage Azure governance, security baselines, cost controls, and compliance.
• Build demos and proofs of concept on Azure AI Foundry for client opportunities.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure across hybrid and cloud-native environments.
• Advise on cloud migration strategy and landing zone design.
• Collaborate with client IT teams and Sia consultants on roadmaps and plans.
• Document runbooks and operational procedures.

The role

We are looking for a Microsoft/Azure Stack Engineer to join our Data Science & AI team as a consultant. This is a client-facing role first: most of your time is spent on client engagements, designing and building Azure infrastructure and platform solutions, advising on cloud strategy, and representing Sia's technical delivery capability directly to the client. Alongside that, you will get hands-on with AI on the side of the business: building demos and proofs of concept on Azure AI Foundry that support new client opportunities, rather than running or maintaining an internal platform. If you want client exposure plus a genuine way to build AI skills on top of your infrastructure expertise, this is a team where that combination is real.

What you will do

• Work directly with client teams and stakeholders as a consultant, explaining technical trade-offs and architecture decisions in plain language.
• Design and implement Azure infrastructure, including networking, compute, storage, and identity components (Azure AD/Entra ID, VNets, App Services, AKS).
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions to support infrastructure-as-code deployments (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates).
• Manage and optimize Microsoft 365 and Azure governance, including security baselines, cost management, and compliance controls.
• Build demos and proofs of concept on Azure AI Foundry to support business development and potential client work.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues across hybrid and cloud-native environments.
• Advise clients on cloud migration strategy, landing zone design, and the Azure Well-Architected Framework.
• Collaborate with client IT teams, architects, and Sia consultants to deliver technical roadmaps and implementation plans.
• Document architecture decisions, runbooks, and operational procedures.
• Depending on seniority, mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal capability building within the Azure and AI practice.

Qualifications

What you bring

• Comfortable working directly with clients as a consultant, and able to explain technical trade-offs in plain language.
• Willing and able to travel for client work (mostly within the Benelux).
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in a production environment.
• Strong knowledge of Azure core services: compute, networking, storage, identity, and security.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates).
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or comparable CI/CD tooling.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration and Entra ID/Azure AD.
• Scripting proficiency in PowerShell, Python, or similar.
• Interest in or experience with Azure AI Foundry or building AI demos/proofs of concept is a strong plus.
• A relevant Microsoft certification (AZ-104, AZ-305, or AZ-400) is a plus.
• Fluent in Dutch and English.
• For senior candidates: experience leading architecture decisions on client-facing engagements and mentoring other engineers.
