Job summary

SIRE Life Sciences is seeking a Microbiology Laboratory Analyst for a 6-month assignment in Haarlem. The role involves performing microbiological testing on pharmaceutical samples, raw materials and finished products in a GMP/GLP-regulated environment.

You will work independently on established procedures and support investigations, documentation and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate has a microbiology background, hands-on testing experience, and familiarity with LIMS.

Qualifications

• MLO level 4 or higher, preferably microbiology.
• Experience performing microbiological analyses in a laboratory.
• Experience in GMP or GLP-regulated environments.
• Familiarity with LIMS or other electronic laboratory systems.
• Knowledge of microbiological testing methods, aseptic techniques and laboratory safety.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team.
• Proactive, responsible and quality-focused mindset.
• Good written communication in Dutch and/or English; fluent Dutch preferred.
• Willingness to wear a full-face mask when required, no-beard rule.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and non-routine microbiological testing per procedures.
• Conduct bioburden testing using membrane filtration and plate counts.
• Perform microbial identification using Gram stain and MALDI-TOF.
• Carry out endotoxin and sterility testing on finished products.
• Test and release microbiological growth media.
• Operate safety cabinets and isolators following aseptic techniques.
• Document and report results accurately in LIMS.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, materials, consumables and work areas.
• Identify deviations and support investigations and change controls.
• Participate in equipment and method validation and qualification.
• Contribute to improvements in SOPs and work instructions.
• Support colleague training and internal audit preparation.

About the position

This position is ideal for someone with a microbiology background who enjoys practical laboratory work and has experience working according to GMP or GLP standards.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when performing tests and documenting results.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.

• Good written communication skills in Dutch and/or English; fluent Dutch is preferred.
• Willingness to wear a full-face mask when required, including compliance with the no-beard requirement when using it.
