Job summary

Adyen in Amsterdam is seeking an ambitious Merchant Fraud Analyst to join our Merchant Fraud team. You will identify, investigate, and prevent fraudulent activity affecting acquiring, banking, and issuing services, helping maintain the integrity of our platform.

Collaborate with Compliance, Product, and Merchant Operations to analyze patterns in real-time, develop policies, and coordinate with banks to recover funds. Fluent English and 1–3 years fraud experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in fraud at a financial institution.
  • Knowledge of multiple forms of fraud and financial crimes (e.g. APP fraud, account takeovers).
  • Able to use data to drive decisions and act decisively.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, investigate, and prevent fraudulent activity in real-time.
  • Assist in the development and optimization of fraud detection systems and tools.
  • Develop and optimize policies and procedures for fraud incident response and funds recovery.
  • Stay up-to-date with latest fraud trends and techniques.

We are looking for an ambitious analyst to join our Merchant Fraud team. As part of the Merchant Fraud team in Amsterdam you will be working closely with Compliance, Product and other Merchant Operations teams. As a Merchant Fraud Analyst you will be responsible for identifying, investigating, and preventing fraudulent activities related to our acquiring, banking and issuing services. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining the integrity of our platform and ensuring a secure and trustworthy environment for our users. The Merchant Fraud Team is responsible for detecting and mitigating fraudulent activity that scalably reduces risk for Adyen and its customers.

What you’ll do
  • Monitor and investigate transaction patterns, account activity, and user behavior patterns to detect and mitigate fraudulent activity in real-time.
  • Assist in the development and optimization of fraud detection systems and tools, suggesting improvements and enhancements as needed.
  • Develop and optimize policies and procedures for fraud incident response, root cause analysis, funds recovery and communication protocols.
  • Manage fraud recall handling, coordinating with banks and networks to recover funds where possible.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest fraud trends, techniques, and technologies to continuously enhance fraud detection and prevention methods.
Who you are
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • 1-3 years of experience in fraud at a financial institution
  • Knowledge of multiple forms of fraud, financial crimes and scams for example; APP fraud, Account take-overs, Shopper and Merchant Collusion, Synthetic identity fraud
  • Willingness to make difficult decisions and quickly learn and iterate from these experiences - you are skilled at using data to drive decisions
  • You are able to work both on your own and with others, taking ownership where your knowledge is needed. At the same time you are a strong collaborator who is comfortable with connecting with colleagues across different teams and cultures, sharing ideas to improve efficient teamwork.
