Job summary

Outtask in Amsterdam is seeking a medior Java Developer to join a small team of 6–8. You’ll build and maintain microservices (REST APIs) in a hybrid setup from Amsterdam, focusing on a modern, event-driven architecture with Kafka and Azure Event Hub.

You’ll contribute to Kubernetes deployments, write tests with Testcontainers and MockMVC, and apply hexagonal architecture, SOLID and DDD. Collaboration within a tight team is essential, and you’ll have room to influence design and infra choices.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s/master’s level of thinking and a 3-5 years of experience as a Java developer
• Experience with Spring Boot and building REST APIs
• Affinity with event-driven systems (Kafka, Event Hub) and an understanding of topics such as DLQ, message retry, message ordering and idempotency
• Knowledge of, or interest in, container orchestration (Kubernetes/AKS)
• Affinity with microservices architecture and the challenges that come with it (communication, consistency and deployments)
• A curiosity about how things work under the hood (for example Kafka serde) and an interest in monitoring, deployments and rollback strategies
• You like working independently, but also actively seek collaboration within a small team

For an international client in Amsterdam, we’re looking for a medior Java Developer. You’ll join a small team of 6 to 8 developers working within a microservices landscape, with short lines of communication and plenty of room for your own input. You’ll work hybrid, with Amsterdam as your base location.
