Job description

QphoX is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join us in developing and building our quantum modem. In order to achieve our mission, we are looking for enthusiastic candidates with engineering skills and resourcefulness.

Joining a dynamic team with a rich diversity of backgrounds and nationalities, you'll be at the forefront of developing the next generation of devices aimed at elevating their performance to new heights. With access to cutting-edge methodologies and state-of-the-art tools, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of our technology.

You will be involved in:
  • Helping us design, develop, and build supporting hardware for our microwave to optical transducers and opto-electronic hardware
  • Collecting and setting requirements, as well as brainstorming potential solutions
  • Rapid prototyping to demonstrate key concepts and to inform design changes
  • Managing projects and communicating results to cross functional teams
  • Overall maintenance of our products
  • Working in a diverse and multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists
  • Learning about photonics and their control methods
Skills and knowledge you will bring to QphoX:
  • BSc/MSc with practical experience
  • Previous experience with CAD software e.g Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360, etc
  • Previous experience with 3D printing
  • Design for manufacturing and design for testing knowledge
  • Experience designing hardware for scalability and robustness
  • Programming with Python for data acquisition, measurement and/or analysis
  • Strong background in particularly (but not limited to) sectors such as mechatronics, telecommunications or robotics
  • At least 5 years of proven experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other engineers, scientists and technicians with a wide range of expertise
  • Good organizational and planning skills to achieve set goals on time
  • Passion for learning new tools and techniques
Supplementary skills set:
  • Understanding of microwave and/or photonics engineering principles
  • Experience using schematic capture and PCB design software such as Altium
  • Working knowledge of control systems and signal processing
  • Working with Python software to interact with the embedded hardware
  • Programming with C / C++ experience
