Job summary

Destinus is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our R&D team in the Netherlands. You will lead mechanical design projects for airframe, propulsion, landing gear, and flight controls through the full design life cycle, working with propulsion and vehicle teams.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in aerospace mechanical design, strong CAD/PLM skills (Siemens NX, Teamcenter), and solid knowledge of GD&T, materials, and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/Master degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering required.
• 8+ years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer in aerospace.
• Strong CAD and PLM knowledge, plus materials property knowledge.
• Experience with manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, composites).
• Solid fundamentals in dimensioning, load paths, and basic stress calculations.
• ISO GD&T knowledge; fluent English is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Lead design projects for aerospace components and systems from concept to manufacturing and testing.
• Generate 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and related documentation.
• Deliver technical documentation including calculations and assumptions.
• Prepare and participate in design reviews.
• Manage suppliers and manufacturers, resolve manufacturing issues.
• Select standard parts and support DMU/configuration management.
• Contribute to DMU and configuration management.

What You'll Do

• Lead design projects for aerospace components and systems from the conceptual phase through manufacturing to integration and testing
• Generate 3D CAD models, drawings, schematics, bills of material, and other related documentation required for manufacturing, integration and testing
• Deliver technical documentation including any engineering calculations, analysis and assumptions required to substantiate your design decisions and solutions
• Prepare and participate in design reviews
• Manage suppliers and manufacturers by addressing any technical questions and resolving any issues which may arise during the manufacturing process
• Select standard parts, fasteners, equipment and consumables following best practices and industry standards
• Contribute to the DMU and configuration management

What You'll Need

• BSc., MSc. in mechanical or aerospace engineering. Technician qualifications with substantial experience would also be considered
• +5 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer in the aerospace industry
• Strong knowledge of the manufacturing and assembly processes - machining, sheet metal forming, composites and additive manufacturing
• Excellent CAD and PLM knowledge - Part design, DWGs, DMU management
• Good engineering material properties knowledge
• Strong engineering fundamentals and analytical skills - dimensioning calculations, load path definitions, basic stress calculations, energy and power
• Seal and fastener design knowledge
• Auxiliary component selection - general electro/mechanical components
• ISO GD&T knowledge required
• Fluent in English as working language.
• Proficiency in Siemens tool suite - NX, and TeamCenter PLM system, would be a plus
• Experience with Metallic and composite structures design would be beneficial
• Good to have experience with hydraulics, fuel systems and component design
